SImon, sometimes IBM just can't do it.  I saw your note and was all 
excited and went to the site.  I'm using the Lotus Notes browser.  I was 
told that I needed to enable Java script.  Interestingly, I have Java 
script enabled.  My other choice was to go to a non-java script page so I 
did. Then it said I could sign up for free so I chose that. 

*poof* It disappeared me and my 132 megs of RAM.  "Not enough memory" was 
the last message I saw.

So much for that plan.

Hello Dave, Sue, et al,

If you are serious about a development AS/400 (that is, one on which to 
develop AS/400 
products for resale as opposed to one at home to play with) then join 
IBM's Partners 
In Development (now called PartnerWorld) organisation.  Go to 

                 http://www.developer.ibm.com/
or
                 http://www.as400.ibm.com/developer

You must enroll indic=vidually first (and this level is useful for all 
AS/400 
developers) and then enroll at one of the commercial levels.

**IF** you have a commercial idea and can present a business case for it 
you can then 
ask the PID support for discounts on hardware and software which 
significantly 
outweigh the cost of commercial PID membership.  There are some 
restrictions on what 
you can use an AS/400 purchased under this scheme for but they are not at 
all onerous.

Phone your local IBM branch and find out who is the local representative 
for AS/400 
PID and talk to them about your idea.

Stop bitching at IBM when in this case they are actually providing good 
support. 
Perhaps they could let developers know about this in a more 
straight-forward manner 
but **IF** you are serious about AS/400 development wouldn't you be 
talking to IBM 
anyway?
