We have a similar situation - but inventory is in our facility in a tightly-managed area We set up a separate whse under the same fac/co as our manufacturing plant The whse is non-allocatable, non-nettable (mrp ignores) We created a transaction which has no gl impact, and use it to put on-hand / take out inventory Auditors have been explained / understand the situation If I remember correctly, we added a field to the whse master to id if a whse was consignment / vendor owned / etc. Then several cost / gl reports were modified to ignore warehouses falling into certain categories The negative transactions to that whse are summarized at the end of the day, and a po is placed/received to get inventory on-hand in our 'real' (mfg) whse Zzbpcs@aol.com@midrange.com on 08/23/2002 08:45:00 AM Please respond to bpcs-l@midrange.com Sent by: bpcs-l-admin@midrange.com To: bpcs-l@midrange.com cc: Subject: BPCS 4.05 CD Vendor Managed Inven Good morning. We will probably have to figure a way to deal with "Vendor Managed Inventory" ( correct term? ) The vendor owns the inventory The inventory is still in their warehouse We want visibility to it We do NOT want to consider it "on hand" for MRP We do NOT want to count it or value it for G/L We are thinking about a separate warehouse in a separate facility in a separate company..... Any suggestions ??
