We are running an even earlier release of BPCS, so I'm not laughing. However, we have automated much of our batch processing with Robot including invoicing. The only "clue" that I can think of (right now) to give you is that at the beginning of each BPCS job, we call a program that sets up the LDA for use by BPCS. -----Original Message----- From: bpcs-l-request@midrange.com [mailto:bpcs-l-request@midrange.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 14, 2002 10:00 AM To: bpcs-l@midrange.com Subject: BPCS-L digest, Vol 1 #364 - 9 msgs Send BPCS-L mailing list submissions to bpcs-l@midrange.com To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/bpcs-l or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to bpcs-l-request@midrange.com You can reach the person managing the list at bpcs-l-admin@midrange.com When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of BPCS-L digest..." We will pass Purchase Order Receipt data, Shop Order Receipt data, DRP Receipt data to BPCS using a data que. Would you: A. Try to use CIM520 ( never been used before here) B. Write a "batch" version of PUR550, DRP550 C. Write a "batch" version on INV500 D. Write a new pgm(s) that only has the code necessary (rather than the "extraneous " code in the above) E. buy & implement SAP ( just kidding..) Reply-To: bpcs-l@midrange.com It is overcast here, we been storming. Eons ago on a version of BPCS before 405 CD, before I knew as much as I do now. I made a clone of INV500, that simulated the input of a particular transaction effect, fed to the program from a work file that some other program supplied. Instead of the fields being populated by some human at a keyboard, they were populated from the work file and the logic. Damned inefficient code, but it worked. Hundreds of transactions went into BPCS every day without a human being having to key them. We were using it to automate scrap reporting, something that comes with 405 CD and was not available on the earlier version. 405 CD people can do this kind of thing because we have the source code, not available at later versions of BPCS. >Good day.......hazy, hot & humid....... > >Here's a multiple choice quiz. > >We are going to interface a warehouse management system >with BPCS 4.05CD. >We will pass Purchase Order Receipt data, Shop Order Receipt data, DRP >Receipt data >to BPCS using a data que. > >Would you: > A. Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 09:46:58 -0700 Reply-To: bpcs-l@midrange.com Jim, We are uploading barcoding data consisting of mainly Shop Floor data, so I would recommend option A. We upload to the NVF file. Call Cim505c - this splits labor and transaction data. Submit Cim530c - process labor. Submit Cim520c - translate NGT into NIN. Cim520C then submits Cim610c and Cim620c. Modification were necessary to most every program, I don't think any would be considered drastic.
