Hello,

With any version of BPCS buying the code (in the form of AS/SET action
diagrams or source for non-AS/SET programs) is a separate option when you
order your product. You will need to request this from your BPCS
representative and your BPCS key should be updated to show that you have
purchased source.

With full Client/Server BPCS versions, you can have the choice to modify
only your 'B' programs (ones that do not bring up a display screen) and you
can use AS/SET to do this modification, or if you need to modify the GUI
panels and underlying display programs, you will also need to buy and learn
ODW, which is the only tool that can change the display programs in
Client/Server BPCS. Your SSA GT sales representative can give you further
details about this.

Note that in Client/Server BPCS, any of the 'Fat' client (also called 'first
generation': CEA, OLM) programs which run through the daemon called ALAUNCH
do not have any available tool to modify them, and any modifications to
these should be requested via SSA GT services.

If you order any BMRs, you will then need to also request the AS/SET action
diagrams when ordering them, so that you keep your code repository up to
date. From the AS/SET or ODW action diagram you can generate the RPG source
code.

It is usually recommended that you use the AS/SET or ODW tools to do
modifications in to any program that is AS/SET based, as this makes it
easier to retrofit any BMRs into your code modifications. With Client/Server
display programs it is an absolute requirement to use ODW to modify them, or
the modified programs usually will not run or will not properly display to
the end-user.

For the few simple CL programs which do the printer overrides for BPCS
printing (SYSOVRC etc.) you can often just retrieve the CL source.

Thanks,

Genyphyr Novak
