Jim,
You may also wish to consider DRP for your solution. Pass the demand for the
VMI items to a VMI facility where it is netted against vendors stock. If the
material is on site just do a transfer. If it is off site you may release a
resupply order to make the move. Not sure how you notify the vendor. Some may
be ok with notificdation of the transfer, others may want that plus
visibility of future planned orders.
