If they won't upgrade to V3R2 tell them they won't have to worry about
the AS/400's going away in 3 to 5 years, because their business will go
away in (less than) 2 years. Then they can burn in hell ! :-)

What's their problem ? Apart from the one machine at V2R3 the others
are all licensed for V3 already and the upgrade will cost them only the
media & handling charge (it would be $300 Canadian, so I'm sure it's
less than that in the US).

V3R1 is supposedly V3R1 compliant with all the required PTF's but I
would not trust that - go to V3R2.
Besides, V3R1 is no longer (or won't be before 1999 is out) a supported
release.

        Subject: OS Y2K Compiant

I've been contracted by a customer to be their Y2K consultant.
In doing
        the analysis
of their software & systems in general, I have told them they
need to
        upgrade the OS
        (1 machine V2R3, 2 machines V3R0M5, 1 machine V3R1). The
company is balking
against this upgrade, giving the reasoning that the 400's are
going away in
        3-5 years.

What reasonings can I use to get this company to upgrade the OS?
Was I
        correct in
telling them that these OS's are not Y2K compliant? Will the
company be
        burned if
they stay on these OS's thru Y2K?

        Any comments are appreciated.

        Thanks!
