And there's now an option for those who simply don't want to change the way they develop. PSC400 is shipping. If, like me, you think that business logic is best programmed in RPG, then PSC400 is for you. You can write any application you'd like in RPG, and with a single command put it on the web. The basic 5250 emulation mode puts your application on the web with a green screen look and feel, which allow you to test it without retraining your programmers. The second mode, which we call web application mode, puts out a JSP which can be easily customized to any look and feel you like. We're finding that there's very little you can do with a web application that you can't do with PSC400. Want a store front? Write a green screen version with all the bells and whistles you could want, and then with a single command web enable it. And it's not just a screen scraper, either. You have access to hidden fields, so if your application needs images, just include the URLs in hidden fields and the web version can use them. And best of all, the applications run in batch, which means no interactive cycles! We can show you all kinds of great techniques, such as using rollover images in place of options, so your application looks like it was designed for the web. But you can still test the entire thing from an interactive session, using ISDB or STRDBG, just like you do today! Okay, enough. Contact me if you're interested.
