Hi Jon and Mike,
Thanks for your replies.
Here is a link to a screenshot I took:

My guess is that rdi/mac has guestimated a font that it thinks would be
best based on what rdi is coded to use, and making a hash of it. (I have
a similar issue with chromium on linux and for the life of me I can't
get it to give reasonable looking web pages even with, as far as I can
tell, setting the same font choices as firefox.)
Perhaps try installing https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Inconsolata and
changing rdi to use it. I've found its one of the best readable fonts at
small sizes, which is great if you like a lot of your code on the
display.
I also use the font (the bold version) as my font of choice in my
termainal programs as I tend to have things like "watch cat proc/mdstat"
and "top" running all the time and it allows me to show a lot of data,
using tiny font sizes, on the screen and still be readable.
I haven't had a chance to try anything else yet, but I'll reply if I get
any joy.
I'd be interested to see what you think of the screenshot - if you agree
that it is not sharp.
best regards,
Craig
