Thanks for your replies.

I was surprised that I had to download Legacy Java6 too Jon, but if I
remember correctly, I was forced into it when I tried to run RDi and it was
RDi that downloaded it.

From memory:

With regard to my recent installs of ACS and RDi.

- I downloaded ACS and it wouldn't run until I dowloaded the JDK - JRE
wasn't enough.
I downloaded the latest version Java 8 Update 171.

For RDi, I followed the links to download IM.
Then I added the repository for RDi version 9.6 and downloaded via the IM.
I think there was some kind of warning after the download but it wasn't
immediately obvious on the screen.
Perhaps that was about java but there was nothing on the dialog box ( sorry
I can't exactly remember this bit ) and I didn't go hunting.

Anyway I think it was when I ran RDi that it said it needed Java 6 legacy,
which did surprise me.
I closed it again and tried again ( foolish I know ) but unsurprisingly the
result was the same and so I let it download Java and after that everything
was fine.

I haven't had a chance to try anything else yet, but I'll reply if I get
any joy.

I'd be interested to see what you think of the screenshot - if you agree
that it is not sharp.

Yes, RDI comes with it's own Java but I believe that there is some Mac
infrastructure that is installed by the legacy Java. My understanding is
that this dependency will eventually go away but by then you will have the
legacy Java installed and won't notice ;)

FWIW I have a mid-2015 retina Macbook Pro with OS X 10.13 and RDI seems
crisp to me and I have not tinkered with any settings specific to RDI. I
do have the display set to the max "more space" setting to accommodate
another app that I need to run if that matters.

You shouldn't have needed the Java 6 for RDi - I'm pretty certain that IBM
ships its own version of Java with RDi.

Has anyone else had this issue?
