Kurt,
Thanks for pointing out the new combo box, I hadn't noticed it before.
But right click anywhere on either the left or right comparison panes
definitely should show a context menu.

We are of course not talking about the Lpex compare but the RSE compare.

Greg - I'm not using iSphere.

Edmund, I recall "Ignore White Space" being there in previous versions, but
I can't find it now. Before I sent my original email I was right-clicking
all around looking for options, but nothing gave me a pop-up menu. I
thought it maybe went away with the Text Compare drop down (which I'm
thinking is new, but I could be wrong). TBH I don't compare source all
that often.

If you use the Compare With->Each Other from the RSE view and right click
and select 'Ignore White Space' does it work correctly?

Vern, that's a real sore spot with me. No, I do not want to "trim" every
source I want to compare to. However, issuing a trim did cause the Compare
to say there were no differences.

This goes back to my complaint (ahem, RFE) about how I don't care about
trailing spaces, I have no use ever for trailing spaces (at least I haven't
in my past 17 years of this) and that RDi should not bother me with them.

Kurt

You could try the "trim" command in RDi at that command line you get to
with the escape key - do that in each source member, then compare.

It's not just that line. I only copied that line as an example.
It's every single line in the source.

When I copy a source member to a new source file, it has trailing blanks.
For the line I gave screenshots for, I see these in hex in the copied
version of the file as x'40'. In the original source it has no blanks so
it doesn't have the trailing x'40'. However I'd expect those to be
ignored.

I was going to suggest what Jon suggests as well.
Is it possible that this line is using the hex 22 or similar to
highlight
the line?

If so, then there is an open APAR that discusses this: SE63293

Have you tried looking at the lines in hex? Only thing I can think

Kurt,

I use the ignore trailing spaces. Not sure if that is your issue or
not,
but thought I would mention that....
windows>preferences>LPEX Editor>Save
o ignore leading blanks
o Ignore trailing blanks (checked)
o ignore all blanks
o Ignore case (checked)
o Ignore comment
o Ignore sequence numbers (checked)
o Column restriction comparison

-Ken Killian-

PS. Since RPG is case insensitive like VB, I also turn on the ignore
case too. <grin>

It looks like RDi has a new drop-down to select which type of source
compare to use. In my case, both IBM i Member Compare and Text
Compare show differences when there are none.
Here is an example a line that is the same in both sources, but the
source compare is telling me is different.

I'm using RDi 9.5's latest test fix from 11/19.
