Hmmmm - I'm surprised you consider it new function. The old RPG xref data
that outline view used to be based on contained that information as by
definition a DS is an alpha field whose length is the sum of its parts (or
the declared length if one was given.

Can't go back to the old version but I thought that used to be included in
outline.
