Hmmmm - I'm surprised you consider it new function. The old RPG xref data that outline view used to be based on contained that information as by definition a DS is an alpha field whose length is the sum of its parts (or the declared length if one was given.

Can't go back to the old version but I thought that used to be included in outline.

We do not show incorrect information for data structures in hovers.
But the full potential of hovers is not exploited.
It might be useful to compute the lengths of data structures and show that.
This would be a new piece of function.

Not an RFE issue surely Edmund? It should be treated as a bug.

Hi,

RDi 9.0.1 has that great hover tip on variables to see sizes and types!
Very Cool!

My problem is once in a while, I need to know the Size of the
Data-Structure. Which RDi does NOT seem to show that...
<frown>

My workaround: create a new stand-alone field with LIKE(<ds-in-question>)
and wait a sec for hover to reveal the field size. Only takes a few
seconds... no need to leave LPEX.
