Thanks a lot for all the responses, I have learned a lot. A couple of things : I couldn't find Column sensitive editing anywhere. I'm on V5.0 in French so I need to know the exact path to find the box to check. Pasting with control C moves everything right. Alt Z : everytime I use it, the selected block increases in width by one character. C in the margin followed by OO on the start and finish lines only copies over the first line, which is why I was using SEU. My prefered method is to select the block with Alt R, and type block fill * : I noticed that I can select the block, hit escape which brings me to the command line, hit the up key and select my las block fill commande. Almost as fast as SEU !!!! ----- Message d'origine ----- De : <AGlauser@xxxxxxxxxxxx> À : "Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries" <wdsci-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Envoyé : mercredi 20 septembre 2006 17:53 Objet : Re: [WDSCI-L] Paste in LPEX for RPG
I use a similar method for commenting blocks. If I need to comment a large number of lines, but some skip some, I use the block select as detailed by Adrian, and then the Selected > Overlay with Selection option (shortcut Alt+Z). Start by commenting out a few lines manually. Then rectangle select >1 lines of *****. I usually try to guess the smallest block I'll be commenting at a time - usually two or three lines. Then, you can cursor down to the next block you need to comment, and hit Alt+Z, repeating as necessary. Ensure you set "Column sensitive editing", so the original lines are not shifted right. 2.- In LPEX you can select a rectangle block (Alt+R at each of its two diagonally-opposite corners), then Esc to go to the LPEX command line and enter: block fill * or alternatively, after the rectangle selection was done, right-mouse click to bring up the pop-up menu, Selected > Fill selection > *. David Foxwell wrote:When we comment out blocks of code, we use "*****" in column 7. I can't do this efficiently in LPEX. Instead, I have to leaveLPEX, open the member in SEU, create a line with **** and copy this line over the lines of code with "OO".This is totally ridiculous.
