Kelly, Exactly! The fact that IBM has decided to base WDSC (WSAD, WSSD, and others), commercial products, on a open source product should not diminish the level of support of available to its users. IBM is no longer a hardware or a software company, it's a service company. Open source is no excuse. cheers Colin.W Extension 5800 Direct dial 0870 429 5800 -----Original Message----- From: Kelly Cookson [mailto:KCookson@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 05 October 2004 16:25 To: 'Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries' Subject: RE: [WDSCI-L] Removing a plug-in >><snip> a popular open source product means that development cycle is >>shorter, <endsnip> >Providing someone contributes to the project. IBM's choice to put WDSCi on top of an open source product introduces the same question that keep companies from going with other open-source products: who's going to support it? As long as IBM feels free to not work on Eclipse problems, and Eclipse has no obligation to WDSCi users, then there's a crack in the support infrastructure. Uninstalling plug-ins is not a mission critical issue. I'm just saying it reflects a less than perfect support situation.
