Actually, IBM never automatically sends out upgrades, do they? That's the job of business partners, I believe. You have to order upgrades to the OS.

I hear where you are coming from, but when you think about it, it isn't

At a minimum, some kind of "opt-in" list would be nice where you could
perhaps take one extra step to request to receive these upgrades and then
have it happen automatically.

If one were to look for a bright side to this, then perhaps this ordering
requirement is at least allowing IBM to get some kind of idea as to who is
using or interested in WDSC. Since WDSC is included for free with a
licensed program that basically everyone already has, one downside to that
packaging is that it is hard for IBM to have an idea how many people are
using it.

It would be REALLY nice if IBM could figure out a way to automatically
send the
update to the people who should be getting it. With every new version, we
have
to manually order the upgrade. Can't IBM query their database and see who
is
current on software subscription and who has the proper licensed program
and
ship it out? You would thing a software company would be able to handle
something that seems so simple. ;-)
