Hi, It IS frustrating you have to find out yourself each time there is an upgrade, a PTF, a groupPTF, another option of the Licensed Program, ... For the products you have on your machines . If IBM can't automatically send them, At least they could send a digest on a regular basis (p.e.weekly?) for the products a client has . The most frustrating however is their Software subscription policy: Apparrently more and more products are created were no upgrade path is provided . like p.e. : don't mention Websphere: <QUOTE> Dear client, You do need a software subscription ; We, on our side, will change each time license numbers, so software subscription will have no effect, and you still will be obliged to pay a new license on any upgrade ... Websphere 3, Websphere 4, Webpshere 5, ... despite your software subscription we will charge you on and on and on Thank you very much dear Client signed IBM rep. </QUOTE> Luc message: 2 date: Mon, 13 Oct 2003 13:04:07 -0500 from: "Scott Johnson" <sjohnson@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> subject: RE: [WDSCI-L] Ordering WDSC 5.1 It would be REALLY nice if IBM could figure out a way to automatically send the update to the people who should be getting it. With every new version, we have to manually order the upgrade. Can't IBM query their database and see who is current on software subscription and who has the proper licensed program and ship it out? You would thing a software company would be able to handle something that seems so simple. ;-) -- Scott J. ------------------------------ message: 3 date: Mon, 13 Oct 2003 14:26:30 -0400 from: "Mark Phippard" <MarkP@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> subject: RE: [WDSCI-L] Ordering WDSC 5.1 I hear where you are coming from, but when you think about it, it isn't much different than not automatically sending out PTF's.. At a minimum, some kind of "opt-in" list would be nice where you could perhaps take one extra step to request to receive these upgrades and then have it happen automatically. If one were to look for a bright side to this, then perhaps this ordering requirement is at least allowing IBM to get some kind of idea as to who is using or interested in WDSC. Since WDSC is included for free with a licensed program that basically everyone already has, one downside to that packaging is that it is hard for IBM to have an idea how many people are using it.
