I hear where you are coming from, but when you think about it, it isn't 
much different than not automatically sending out PTF's.. 

 At a minimum, some kind of "opt-in" list would be nice where you could 
perhaps take one extra step to request to receive these upgrades and then 
have it happen automatically.

If one were to look for a bright side to this, then perhaps this ordering 
requirement is at least allowing IBM to get some kind of idea as to who is 
using or interested in WDSC.  Since WDSC is included for free with a 
licensed program that basically everyone already has, one downside to that 
packaging is that it is hard for IBM to have an idea how many people are 
using it.

It would be REALLY nice if IBM could figure out a way to automatically 
send the
update to the people who should be getting it.  With every new version, we 
have
to manually order the upgrade.  Can't IBM query their database and see who 
is
current on software subscription and who has the proper licensed program 
and
ship it out?  You would thing a software company would be able to handle
something that seems so simple. ;-)
