Claus, Thank you for your reply. The announcement says it will be available electronically on September 27. Does that mean there will be some kind of installer that can be downloaded, as opposed to waiting for a CD or DVD? When you reference the Update Manager, are you saying that starting with 5.1 you will start using it to deliver fixes, or are you saying that we will be able to use the Update Manager in 5.01 to update to 5.1? For what it is worth, I would like to see more "smaller" updates start to be made available in the future. A good example, is that problem in the RPGLE Outline View that causes a crash. Once that was identified, it would have been nice if an update could have been made available by Update Manager. I do now that it is not always as easy as that sounds, but that should be the goal. Since we have more experience with UPDATE manager now, applying fixes to the new release should be straight forward and you will not have to go thru a set of instructions to apply a fix. As before WSSD is shipping with WDSC and WSAD is shipping with WDSC advanced. Also as before, if you buy WSSD or WSAD as separate products then the iSeries plugins of WDSC will be added to WSSD or WSAD. Which also means if you have bought the WSSD or WSAD licenses separately from WDSC you can upgrade these as early as they are made available. However the WDSC license is for one package and with it you can't upgrade the base products and then wait for the iSeries plugins to be delivered later you will have to wait until WDSC is available to get the upgrade for the complete package. So if you want the new versions of WSSD or WSAD early you would have to buy separate licenses for them. To Joe's point about upgrading for OS/400 V5R1 customers, he has a good point that there is only a small window of time to accomplish this upgrade, from October 17 to November 21, November 21 is the date that OS/400 V5R1 gets withdrawn from marketing and then you can't order the WDS upgrade features anymore. We have highlighted this fact in the announcement letter to make OS/400 V5R1 customers aware of this window so they can go ahead and use this upgrade opportunity in that timeframe. I hope this information helps to clarify the announcement Claus Weiss Visual AD tools, email: weiss@xxxxxxxxxx Dept 522 IBM Canada Lab tie 969-3987 Phone(905)413-3987 FAX(905)413-4850 Greetings from Toronto WDSc for iSeries homepage: ibm.com/software/ad/iSeries WDSc newsgroup: news://news.software.websphere.studio400 | VARPG newsgroup: news://news.software.ibm.com/ibm.software.varpg, _______________________________________________ This is the Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries (WDSCI-L) mailing list To post a message email: WDSCI-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/wdsci-l or email: WDSCI-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l.
