100% agree Jon.

I once worked for a Fortune 600 company, before starting I made sure to ask
about the use of modern RPG and RDI (well WDSC at the time).

Was told it was fine.

Fast forward a few months, somebody on the admin team raised a stink about
the debug servers running on the box; which shined a spotlight on my use of
WDSC.

Called into a meeting with my manager, I came along with a list of the "Top
17 Reasons to use WDSC" and an offer to resign if they would prefer.

They declined to accept my offer and instead asked me to try to get the
others to use WDSC.

As another poster indicated - you are being paid to bring your expertise
and good judgement to a job. So do that. If the "company: does not agree
with the results then perhaps it is time to move on.

No argument with your sentiment at all, except that the guy with the

unemployment/move to another job, or do as instructed.

I know IBM will never do this for a variety of very good reasons, but
the only way to force it is to stop shipping/supporting the old compilers
forcing everyone to the newest version available on that OS VRM.
