The other benefit of the scroll bar that isn't obvious at first but is liked by users enough so that it sometimes overwrites their desire of "just like the old one" is that the subfile can be moved one line-at-a-time up and down the screen.

If it was just a "where am I" issue, the scroll bar idea would be helpful.
I may have to bite the bullet and handle the page processing myself, to
achieve the desired goal.
