Thanks Barb - I did make changes that resulted in reflecting your statement(s). My setting String_V to blanks is just an old habit from waaaaay back. It was always sort of self documenting for me :) I need to get out of that habit! Below is my code as it is now and its working as I had hoped. C Eval String_V = %TrimR(String) + Ifs_RecEnd + x'00' * Open the IFS file for update and write the updated string... C Eval File1 = OpenIFS(%TrimR(IFS_Filename):'w') C Callp WriteIFSRec((String_V):File1) Thanks again for your input. After 20+ years this is the first time I've used these IFS API's to read and write from RPG. Now I'm armed and dangerous :) Regards, Jerry Gerald Kern - MIS Project Leader Lotus Notes/Domino Administrator IBM Certified RPG IV Developer The Toledo Clinic, Inc. 4235 Secor Road Toledo, OH 43623-4299 Phone 419-479-5535 gkern@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx This e-mail message, including any attachments, is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential and privileged information.
