As an added bonus; we have 1/2 our programs use Job Date and the other half use system date and as these programs are being used almost 24 hrs. it really makes it hard to do calculations. (we also have #4 , and #2 on your list and can be in different combinations in any one program - I am slowly trying to convert these to date type fields but it is very frustrating and tedious) ****************************************** Don Wereschuk ISD - Programmer/Analyst Simcoe Parts Service Inc. True Date fields 2. 6 digit date fields (2 Flavors) a. YYMMDD b. MMDDYY 3. 7 digit date fields (1st pos=1 then 2000 1st pos=0 then 1900) 4. 4 seperate fields (again 2 Flavors) a. C, YY, MM, DD b. CC,YY,MM,DD and joy of joys there are files that have ALL 4 (6 if you count the flavors) depending on the date field.................. On 12/7/06, DeLong, Eric <EDeLong@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:
IBM has already provided a means to deal with this issue. All we need
to
do is NEVER use six-digit date formats. However, there are RPG shops
that
cling to these unsafe formats because they fear that the users cannot understand that they need to enter two additional digits on their date
entry
fields. IMO, this is one of the most pathetic demonstrations of FUD
around.
