Then theres those of us who have a "package" where there are:

1.  True Date fields
2.   6 digit date fields (2 Flavors)
     a.  YYMMDD
     b.  MMDDYY
3.  7 digit date fields (1st pos=1 then 2000 1st pos=0 then 1900)
4.  4 seperate fields (again 2 Flavors)
    a. C, YY, MM, DD
    b. CC,YY,MM,DD

and joy of joys there are files that have ALL 4 (6 if you count the flavors)
depending on the date field..................

You guys must not be considering date-of-birth.
This logic would never work for anyone born before 1940.................

If you were born 12/31/39 and the system would assume that meant
2039...................
