IBM has already provided a means to deal with this issue.  All we need to do is 
NEVER use six-digit date formats.  However, there are RPG shops that cling to 
these unsafe formats because they fear that the users cannot understand that 
they need to enter two additional digits on their date entry fields.  IMO, this 
is one of the most pathetic demonstrations of FUD around.

This logic would never work for anyone born before 1940.................

If you were born 12/31/39 and the system would assume that meant
2039...................
