That may be a bad assumption to make. For example, as has already been
mentioned, birthdates, and any other dates held in the format mdy at the
time of adjustment, how is an adjustment going to say that dates in
existence at that time are in the old mdy format, and dates going forward
are in their new format?
In my opinion (for what its worth), THAT adjustment is NOT going to be
easy, and/or clean. Better to bite the bullet and convert any MDY date
field to *ISO etc

I just avoid 2 digit years if at all possible. I also assume (probably a
bad idea) that IBM will just adjust the date range at some later release
of the RPG compiler.

Michael,

By then, they'll be able to put your brain in a jar and wire it up to
the iSeries..... You'll be coding for the Y10K problem before you know
it.... <vbg>

Unfortunately, I'll only be 72 in 2039, so according to the Social
Security Administration, I'll still be on the job... :(

Paying for your jar, no doubt....

I'll be 82...if I'm not dead, I for sure won't be caring. :)

Hey, by the time 2039 rolls around, someone will have figured out how
to
handle it. Won't they??

What's odd though, is that if you look at a true *MDY date type the
low value is 01/01/40 and the hi value is 12/31/39. We know this
means 1940 through 2039, but it could really be confusing, and
possibly disastrous,
if
using *MDY dates as ranges.

Some of our programs still use six digit dates (Yes, I know we
should

be converting them but that's not my decision and considering the
number of programs involved it would take a huge amount of time and
resources) and
I
need to trap for max dates that are allowable in a *USA format but
are invalid for a *MDY
