Application should be designed in the most user friendly way. 6 digits date field is the norm in US ==> Most screens should be designed to only display/enter in 6 digits format. There are, of course, some exceptions. Birthday, for example, should be designed to require 8 digits date field on the screen. All above should only apply to screen design only. In database, all date fields should be stored with century in database. Above are just MHO :) -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of DeLong, Eric Sent: Thursday, December 07, 2006 10:44 AM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: RE: Date range IBM has already provided a means to deal with this issue. All we need to do is NEVER use six-digit date formats. However, there are RPG shops that cling to these unsafe formats because they fear that the users cannot understand that they need to enter two additional digits on their date entry fields. IMO, this is one of the most pathetic demonstrations of FUD around. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Karen L Hodge Sent: Thursday, December 07, 2006 9:46 AM To: rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Date range You guys must not be considering date-of-birth.
