The anti-cyclists still use the cycle. They just don't understand it. They think a genie appears, and sprinkles pixie dust on their programs to magically open and close their files, and magically stop the program when *INLR is on, and magically reinitialize their variables.

Anyway... they still use the cycle, they just don't think of it as the cycle when there isn't a primary file.

Interesting theory: the people who claim to be anti-Cycle (and given that it has a special meaning in an RPG context, shouldn't we be capitalizing "The Cycle" to distinguish it from some other kind of cycle?) are really just anti-primary-file.

That would explain much, given that out of all the Cycle programs I've written, only two of them (interactive file maintenance programs designed to find and repair data inconsistencies) have any kind of files other than full-procedural.
