I didn't lose the D specs.  They are still there; it's just that the fields 
defined with the LIKE keyword don't seem to be resolved for the SQL 
pre-compiler.

I haven't done any embedded SQL yet, but this confuses me.  I.e., the 
part about the variables being defined in the D-specs in fixed format, 
but after using WDSc to convert to free-format they are not.  Now, 
converting fixed to free I've done many times, and never lost a D-spec 
yet. 

The LIKE(field) has to be defined somewhere in the database or program, 
as you know.  I cannot think of any reason why it would just "go away".  
Maybe some before and after snips of the pertinent code would help my 
aged mind.
