I use the MOV command to move the IFS file to itself and monitor for CPFA0A9. If CPFA0A9 is triggered, then the file does not exist. For example, if I want to check if a file is in my archive directory: CHGVAR VAR(&INARCHIVE) VALUE('1') MOV OBJ(&ARCSTMF) TODIR(&ARCSTMF) MONMSG MSGID(CPFA0A9) EXEC(CHGVAR VAR(&INARCHIVE) + VALUE('0')) MONMSG MSGID(CPF0000) You could have your RPG program call a CL to do the check or encapsulate the above code in an RPG program using calls to QC2LE. Unlike QCMDEXC, QC2LE allows you to monitor for CPF messages from within the RPG program. Hope this helps.
