Ken,I haven't done any embedded SQL yet, but this confuses me. I.e., the part about the variables being defined in the D-specs in fixed format, but after using WDSc to convert to free-format they are not. Now, converting fixed to free I've done many times, and never lost a D-spec yet. The LIKE(field) has to be defined somewhere in the database or program, as you know. I cannot think of any reason why it would just "go away". Maybe some before and after snips of the pertinent code would help my aged mind.

I have a program with embedded SQL that uses substitution variables. These variables are defined in the D specs with the LIKE keyword. This program compiles fine when using fixed-format RPG C-specs. However, when I convert the program to free-format RPG (using Websphere), the program will not compile because the substitution variables are undefined. Any ideas?
