just want to clarify that sub-procedure is just an example that I used to indicate that the statement Michael mentioned about readability is in the eye of beholder is where problem started. There are many long established programming methods in most AS400 shops. To disrupt them (introducing new method) is a very sensitive issue and should be deal with very carefully.
