Hans, It is not in the RPG IV manual, it is an ILE "limit" from what I remember back when we were in Rochester with the original RPG IV compiler and that questions was brought up. The response was 32K per activation group. Of course, if that's changed, I would have no idea. -Bob -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Hans Boldt Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 7:29 AM To: rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: RPG IV Restrictions: Files Bob Cozzi wrote: > The new limit is 32767 files in RPG IV. > > -----Original Message----- > From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] > On Behalf Of Steffan, Otto (GE Consumer Finance) > Sent: Friday, June 18, 2004 6:55 AM > To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries > Subject: RPG IV Restrictions: Files > > Hello, > do you happen to know if there is a limit on the number of declared files in > RPG IV module/program ? > > RPGIII has the limit 50 files according to the documentation. As far as I know, the RPG compiler doesn't impose a limit, and as far as its concerned, you can have as many files as you want. But I'm sure that some system limit would eventually be exceeded if you coded too many files. I suspect that, at least, you'd probably run out of static storage well before 32K files. Cheers!
