True, but I think the point of the question was, "Is it more than 50?" and the short answer is "yes"! -Bob -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Hans Boldt Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 8:39 AM To: rpg400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: RPG IV Restrictions: Files Bob Cozzi wrote: > Hans, > It is not in the RPG IV manual, it is an ILE "limit" from what I remember > back when we were in Rochester with the original RPG IV compiler and that > questions was brought up. But if you consider that the minimum storage overhead for a file in an RPG IV module is about 1000 bytes, roughly 16K files already will get you to the 16M limit on static storage in a program. And that's without considering more advanced file function, like reading and writing the data. But if anyone really needs to know what the limit is, I'd strongly recommend a course of study in program modularization, and perhaps relational database design and dynamic SQL too. Cheers!
