Except that the compiler / OpDesc support does not treat them as such.  My point
was that OPDESC *only* works on stand-alone or sub-field type A character
fields, and not on any other declaration type including a data structure name.

So the fact OpDesc did not work with a DS name says nothing about its
reliability when used properly with a (type A) character field.  In my
experience, OPDESC has always worked correctly and I've been using it since
V3R2.

Now I certainly wish it handled other declaration types, particularly numeric
types, but I understand why Torronto can't implement that by themselves.
However, to my knowledge it is disinformation to suggest OPDESC does not work
correctly when used as designed.  Or at least I've never experienced nor do I
recall reading on this forum the fact it does not work with any combination of
CONST or *NoPass or whatever.
