Bob,

Well, for one thing, if you pass a data structure to a subprocedure as a
parameter, the opdesc's CEEDOD API does not return the correct value.

That's because a data structure is not a character field, and OPDESC only works with character fields. But what doesn't work with character fields?

No, technically, data structures are character variables. Why doesn't OPDESC doesn't support data structures? I believe the reason is that at one time there was the hope that OD's would provide additional support, including descriptions of the elements of structures.

These days though, if you want to pass a data structure as a parameter, the proper way to do it is to define the parameter using LIKEDS.

Cheers! Hans
