I guess I was lucky then -- I never had it fail, and I used it from V3R2 forward
though now am fortunate enough to only need to support V5R1+.  Using Bob's
assertion that some problem was fixed in V5R1, I'll continue to leave my current
usage of OpDesc in place.

To me the biggest disadvantage of OpDesc is that it is limited to only
supporting character fields (and excluding DS names).  But that's another
thread...
