Mikael, I say that regardless of whether you traditional RPG or SQL you may benefit from creating the proper logical file or the right combination of views and indexes. Some benefit may be gained by not having a single view, and instead controlling your chaining with control breaks. However I feel that the proper views will definitely simplify programming and tremendously ease the users when they use Query. And this will help regardless of whether or not you use traditional RPG or SQL. The beauty of the SQL is that it is easier to sort on the fly, on keys from different files. The only way to do that with RPG is either SQL, or OPNQRYF. Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
