Where I work we did not start using /free until the upgrade 6 mths ago to
v5r1.  So maybe the slow adoption rate is the fault of the current IBM
iSeries management.  If RPG is ptf upgradable, no matter the OS400 release
level, then all RPG programmers can be on the same page, sharing with each
other the knowledge of the new features that will benefit them.  And IBM
makes more $$$ because more productive RPG programmers means more programs
which need more computer resources.
