We are indeed catering to legacy shops in that old programs will continue to compile and run. We won't take away that capability.


 IMHO, the MOVEx opcode is the biggest obstacle to wholesale conversion of
leacy code to freeform.

And why exactly is the wholesale conversion of legacy code to freeform necessary? As they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".
