I've really got to agree with Joe on this one. MOVE sucks the old way,
making it a BIF won't stop it from sucking, but it will make the
transition much simpler. I'm really baffled that they can't/won't just
wrap the existing code that handles the MOVE opcodes into a BIF. I
certainly agree that changing them all to EVALS or what not in one fell
swoop in "legacy," which to me means "solid," code is not realistic due
to the testing that would be required.

Some have suggested that we just write some functions to wrap MOVE.
That's unrealistic since MOVE accepts so many different data types and
each possible combination would need its own function. But again, all
that code already exists at IBM, so they could do it. Why, oh why, oh
IBM? It just doesn't seem like it would be all that much work! If the
religious arguments here don't convince you that we want/need it, what
will?
