ILE philosophy

 > Makes you wonder why, when IBM introduced the ILE concept and
implementation, they didn't introduce some sophisticated management tools
for it,

They did - IBM's ADM was updated to handle ILE as were the tools of Aldon,
Softlanding and others.

Frankly though I don't personally think you need tools any _more_ because
you're doing ILE development, you always needed them to keep
database/program/printer file/display file/invoking CL/etc. in sync - most
of us just kinda got used to the screw ups caused by not having such tools.
We can hardly blame IBM for our own unwillingness to buy tools.
