Just curious Joel, but why would this be a maintenance nightmare? If it is unavoidable to have hundreds of logical files, only use the logical files in your programming while leaving the physical file unused by any program. When you need to change the file layout change the DDS for the physical file and issue a CHGPF command and walla. Now depending on size of PF, this make take some time but nothing I would consider a nightmare. Like to hear your thoughts. John M.
