In addition to Debbie's question, I'd like to know if a Java class access a service program, will there be anything we could to with the Import/Exporting of files. Will/Does Java hava any way of handling something like this? David L. This sounds like a serious disadvantage. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so what would be the best work around? Also, what exactly is a class? Thanks in advance for your help. I've heard about RPG programs being able to access Java >classes, in V5R1, and I know the Java can access programs. David, the new V5R1 RPG support goes both ways (from RPG to Java and from Java to RPG). The Java side defines the RPG procedures as native methods (and that means the procedures can only be called from Java, or from RPG programs calling them as though they were Java methods). Java can also call ordinary service program procedures using the toolbox. From the Info Center, search for ServiceProgramCall. (That's available in V4R5, maybe earlier.)
