You do not say how the field &SWITCH is declared, and what is its initial value
defined as. I'm assuming it is a character field of length 8. If it is NOT
initialised with a value of other than 10000000, it is probably initialized
with spaces, (or maybe even garbage.), and seeing that SWS needs to be some
combination of eight 0's through and including eight 1's......

Hello all

Could someone please help me understand how the switch is controlling the
program it is submitting, I understand the
flipping of the switches to make them true or false (that is my case anyway).
I have a display screen that has a simple
yes or no question. If it is yes then it is true otherwise it is false. I
re-wrote the CL without using the switch and using the
value of &WSALL as shown below, but that has blew up in my face. Could some
please help me with understanding
the switch used in submitting the program; how it controls my program? Any
information would be greatly appreciated

 IF COND(&WSALL = 'Y') THEN(DO)
 CHGVAR VAR(&SWITCH) VALUE('10000000')
 ENDDO

SBMJOB CMD(CALL PGM(*LIBL/MSG7AECL) PARM(&CPER +
                       &VPER &INCAID &USER)) JOB(XFER2STC) +
                       SWS(&SWITCH)

Thanks
