Have the person sending the file via FTP issue a QUOTE RCMD which allows you
to run a command on the AS/400. Tell them to run a SMBJOB command that
fires off a pgm to process that file they just sent.

Example of what would be in the FTP script:'QUOTE RCMD commandstring'
I got the above off of this link:

Subject: FTP Question

Is there a way to tell the AS400 a file as been received on a separate
server and is ready for processing? I have a customer who will be sending
me data via FTP to an NT Server. Once the file is on the server I would
like it to send something to the AS400 to tell it data has arrived so the
AS400 can retreive the data and begin running the jobs. Any ideas?
