The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.

I am a bit of an odd duck in this respect because I have two full
partitions where I can do whatever I want (and I have many wounds to
prove that). That also simplifies my dev work because, unlike Aaron, I
don't have to worry about blowing anyone else of the water on my IBM
i...it's only me.
The challenge in spinning up partitions, even in the cloud, would be
hanging on to those environments for regression testing and other "point
in time" testing. In my case I change the PATH environment and I have a
new (or old) version running. Easier to do than to fire up a VM run a
test and shut it down (IMHO).

This sounds like what is being suggested is testing on a production system. Pete mentioned he has different folders and just picks the one(s) he wants to test with at that time. What if he accidently picks the wrong folder and makes changes to production code/objects? With the advent of cloud, we can deploy a partition in 10 minutes, having independent test environments wouldn't be that difficult.
