The fact that so little use is made of what we already had _before_ this
OSS stuff came along should have been a hint to IBM.

I think you're drawing with too broad of brush by saying that's the reason
PASE hasn't caught on. A number of years ago Linux caught on and the IBM i
crowd is generally 5yrs behind. So the fact that it is hitting us now has
more to do with natural progression and less to do with anything IBM
has/hasn't done.

I also think IBM should focus on creating/porting technology and leave the
creation of education content to others, like systemideveloper.com.

The point I’m trying to make is that you can’t explain jargon with
more jargon. It has to be stated in the terms your target user is
already familiar with. If learning all this stuff was easy for us
old farts a lot more people would be grepping all over the place in
the IFS and making far more use of PASE. The fact that so little use
is made of what we already had _before_ this OSS stuff came along
should have been a hint to IBM.

So what are you proposing IBM should do? Make all this new open source
stuff fit in to GO LICPGM? Or do you just need a Rosetta Stone of sorts?
