>I've had friends ask me why someone would use an AS/400 over a PC. >I can generally get away with muttering something about multiple >users and batch jobs. But, really, I'm just echoing bits and pieces >I hear and have no true idea of what I'm talking about. If the question is this basic your friends (and you) are going to need an understanding of the difference between multi user business database applications and desktop applications. It sounds like some of them may not even understand whether they're using a stand-alone application such as Word or a PC-based front-end linking to an enterprise application on a (Unix, NT, AS/400...) server. I'd try to understand that before getting into a book of AS/400 basics. -Jim James P. Damato Manager - Technical Administration Dollar General Corporation <mailto:jdamato@dollargeneral.com>
