I'm still debating which book to buy, they're pretty darn expensive. Really, it's a choice between _Inside the AS/400: Second Edition_ by Frank G. Soltis and _Starter Kit for the IBM iSeries and AS/400_ by Gary Guthrie and Wayne Madden. Maybe Santa will buy me both for Christmas. :) They seem like they'd be good starting points. I also have a better grasp on the "why" question, which turned out to be amazingly timely. I had a big debate with my partner yesterday about this. He's a PC programmer and thought the AS/400 was an old, outdated machine. It was nice to be on firmer ground this time. I can't say I won the argument (uhh... debate :) but I gave him something to think about. He's a typical programmer... you know the joke "arguing with a programmer and wrestling a pig in the mud.." Yep, that's my Boris. I expect he'll spend a good portion of today reading up on the AS/400. (He's on vacation.) HAHAHA... he'll do some of my research for me! Thank you all very much! Best, Willow
