Not exactly. Sidecars are usually cable-connected (we had a sidecar-equipped box in the 500-series, with a "hat" on the main chassis, that we'd received in barter), and are not terribly difficult to jettison. "Fat" vs. "Slim" refers to the presence or absence of a bolted-on expansion chassis. Our 200 was initially a "slim" 200, but was expanded to a "fat" 200 fairly early in its service life, also gaining a new top, a new front, and a new bustle. And we have both "fat" and "slim" 170s.
